Self-employed since 1987
Work placement led to my first job upon leaving college in 1986. Less than a year later I was self-employed working on a contract freelance basis. The following year, Easter 1988, I began my career as a part time lecturer. Things moved fast in the late 80s!

From drawing boards to desktops
Graphic production has changed beyond recognition from when I started. Those were the days of letraset, paste-ups, cow gum, type depth scales, drawing boards and magic markers. I'm sure that having that background has added richness and depth to my experience in this industry but I'm always happy keen to embrace the new. I bought my first Apple Mac in May 1989 - an SE30, state of the art at the time! Now it seems that every year I'm upgrading to keep up to date.

Word of mouth
When I began designing this website it occurred to me what little experience I have had in self-promotion. Christmas cards and holiday notices is as far as it has got. I began to reflect on why this was the case. The answer is that work has come to me via the best kind of promotion - recommendation. So if you like what you see here, gossip about it won't you?

Broadly speaking
My inability to say 'no' has led to some interesting challenges regarding the type of work I have taken on. I'm proud of the broad spectrum of work I have been involved in. There's only a sample of categories showcased on this website. Want to know if I can handle it? Go on, put me to the test!
